When you are looking for domains for sale you have many options and wide variances in prices. If you are buying a brand new domain name that has never been registered before you will only pay around $10. If you want an existing domain name, especially a name that is well known and has a lot of monthly traffic, you will pay thousands or even hundreds of thousands of dollars.
The method you use to find a domain name may be different depending on what you plan on doing with your website. If you are just starting a personal blog to keep in touch with some family members, you may just want to use your own name or some variation of that.
If you want your website to become an online business you want to spend more time researching various domain names. One of the best methods to use is to do keyword research to find very targeted, and highly searched keywords for your niche.
Once you've got your keywords list made up, go to a domain registrar such as Domain.com, NameCheap or use our own domain service at RightBiz.net to name a few. You can do a search to find other sites where you can buy a domain name. Once there you can do a search and see if your keyword is available as a domain name.
To illustrate, say you are selling something related to golf clubs and your keyword research indicates that the term "best golf clubs" is highly searched. You can go to a domain registrar site and type in the phrase "best golf clubs.com" and if that is available you will most likely have a great domain name for your business.
There is a lot of debate online as to whether or not you should get a .com or a .net domain name extension. I've used both extensions very successfully with my business so I am not in the "you should only use a .com domain name to be successful" camp.
Some people advise that you buy multiple versions of your domain names so if someone enters the domain incorrectly they can still land on your domain. For example, if your domain name is 'BestGolfBalls.com" you may want to also buy "BestGolfBalls.net" and "BestGolfBall.org" etc.
That method is a good one to use but unless you're making tens of thousands from your website it's a cost that you can avoid if you want to.
It's never a good idea to rely on the free domain names that you get with free blog sites such as WordPress or Blogger for your business. If your blog is strictly a personal blog than it's ok, but if your blog is for business than you shouldn't do it.
For one thing if you rely on the free sites, you don't own anything. A domain name is like owning a little piece of the internet. As long as you don't do anything illegal, you can do whatever you want with your domain.
When you are just using someone else's domain such as Wordpress or Blogger, they set the rules and if they don't like something you are doing (whether it's illegal or not) they can and do shut you down. They don't even have to contact you or warn you.
Investing in a domain name for your business is inexpensive and easy. Use these tips of finding the best domains for sale for your business.

To start you need to have a website up and running online. This will help you come up with a great domain name and peak your potential customer's interests. When you use domain name marketing you can double the amount of customers that visit your online shop and if you run your shop offline as well you may find that you make more money when you are online.
Success is determined by the amount of time you want to put into it. If you are willing to put in a lot of time and effort you may find that your payoff will come sooner rather than later. Customers appreciate details and your domain name marketing results will show you how many customers and potential customers you have reached.
Not everyone will purchase something the first time they shop. Don't let this discourage you. Chances are they will return to your site, especially if they have it bookmarked by one of your advertisements. Marketing is a great way to tell the world that you are in business and when you get a chance stop in and visit.
Make sure you protect your domain name by registering it before you advertise.

With today's job market being so uncertain, many people would like to start their own businesses. But, because of the economy, a lot of people do not have the money needed to start a business. Does this sound like you? Perhaps you should consider becoming a website hosting reseller.
Starting a hosting company does not require much upfront cost, nor does it necessarily require much experience. If you do have any type of related experience, you may find the process of starting a reseller business to be a bit simpler and you may have more options as to how to begin. There are software plans, though, that can walk you through the process and teach you about opening a business through a certain web host if you have no experience.
Many people who become hosting resellers are also web designers. There are countless web designers all over the internet, which makes it very difficult to earn a living doing freelance work. By partnering your web design work with a hosting package, though, you will be able to gain more clients. Your design work will get seen throughout the internet--and it may even serve as a means of referring people to your web hosting. People who are impressed with the websites you create for your hosting clients will be more likely to sign on as clients themselves. Also, because your hosting packages will include website design, you can charge more and earn an increased revenue.
Most website hosting resellers tend to seek out clients in their local area. This isn't a requirement, of course, but it is often easier for resellers to obtain clients from their local market. Web hosting is very competitive, with larger companies spending great amounts on advertising on major websites and search engines. It is difficult for smaller resellers to compete with that; therefore, capitalizing on the local area by contacting social and professional connections can often gain clients for resellers. There may also be inexpensive (or even free) advertising opportunities locally, such as in hometown newspapers and city-wide magazines.
It isn't difficult to begin making money as a hosting reseller. You could choose to begin very small at first, then build up further as time goes on. For instance, let's say that you could purchase a large hosting package that contains 50 GB of disk space and 1000 GB of bandwidth and that the cost for this package was $20 per month. Now, you could divide your package up into ten client accounts with 5 GB of disk space and 100 GB of bandwidth for each. Charge $10 for each of these packages, and you earn $100 per month. Your only cost was the $20 package cost, so your monthly profit would be $80.
Reseller web hosting is a great way to start a home business without having to put out a lot of money upfront. With some advertising and some effort, you can be on your way to some great profits.

More people are turning to the internet to make money, they are also snapping up domain names like crazy. For that reason, if you have a certain niche market you've been thinking about, it may be a good idea to buy your domain name now, even if you can't get to it right away, so it's not already taken when you want it. You may actually be able to earn a little money while it just sits there if you use domain name parking.
Once you've bought your domain name it can just 'sit' idly by and do nothing, or you can register with a domain parking site. This will allow you to place ads on your parked domain and potentially make a little revenue for you until you're ready to build your niche website.
One thing to keep in mind though is that unless you have a very highly searched for domain name, your site isn't going to get much traffic and it won't generate many sales so the cost of a domain parking service may not be worth it.
In that case you may just be better off keeping your domain parked at the place where you registered it. If you do want to try to make some money from your domain and you have a great domain name that gets a lot of traffic every month, you have to be careful which domain parking service you use.
You want to make sure that you get a fair share of the revenue generated by the ads on your site. You also want to be able to generate your own landing pages so you can optimize your click through rate and make more money.
Domain parking can provide you with a nice additional monthly income. If you are able to register your new domain name (one that is a very popular search term) or you may even be able to pick up an older domain name that someone has let expire, in either of these scenarios you might be able to make some nice money every month.
Do not make the mistake of thinking that all domain parking companies are created equal. Make sure you do your research so you can get the biggest cut of the click through rate (CTR) possible. To get the most out of your domain name keep your landing page and advertisements very targeted. If your domain name is golfballs.com you might not want to include ads that are not about golf balls.
Some people have actually built whole online businesses around finding great domain names and parking them. They don't just buy a site and park it until they can get to it, they buy a domain name based on the number of monthly visitors it will receive and then they place ads on the site and do everything they can to optimize the click through rate... that is how they make money.
Whether you buy a domain name and want to earn a little money until you can get to it or you buy a domain name with the express purpose of using a domain name parking service to make money from it, there are a lot of companies around and you should choose one carefully. You'll find a list I use in my last blog post here.
